Team Long Run (TLR) combines active play and literacy to support children and families in rural Maine. Since the organization’s launch in 2017, TLR has grown from an early-stage nonprofit into a mission-driven organization serving communities across the state.As the organization expanded its programs and reach, there was a need for cohesive communications and fundraising systems that could support credibility, donor engagement, and sustainable growth.

The challenge was to build an adaptable foundation that could serve multiple audiences, including donors, families, schools, and community partners, while supporting both immediate campaigns and long-term development goals.

Partners from the Earliest Stages

Protos partnered with Team Long Run from its earliest stages to build an integrated communications and fundraising ecosystem designed to grow alongside the organization. The work focused on developing systems rather than one-off materials, beginning with a complete brand identity and extending through donor development, digital growth, and CRM implementation.

Messaging frameworks, campaign materials, and multimedia content supported engagement across audiences, while the transition to Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack provided the operational backbone needed to support donor stewardship and long-term fundraising efforts.

Websites, campaigns, print materials, and multimedia content were designed to work together, reinforcing the organization’s mission and making it easier for supporters to engage at different levels.

The communications and fundraising systems supported significant organizational growth.

Direct mail and digital campaigns delivered strong returns, including a six-to-one return on the organization’s most recent EDDM campaign. The Salesforce CRM implementation improved donor tracking and stewardship, positioning Team Long Run for continued fundraising growth and operational stability. The systems developed through this partnership continue to support the organization’s programs, outreach, and long-term sustainability.
